Dear Mother.
This is just one of the 3 line letters for you said you would be satisfied with as it is late and I must go to bed. I have received several letters from you lately and also one from father did my back at your particulars. I have also had quite a large number of letters about 10 altogether from various other people in Australia, including one from Lucy, of Castle Hill.
I am still okay and doing well and getting plenty of football for what? Don’t be afraid that I will get blown out quicker because I am an officer in these days of shells those things don’t count much and it is these stray shell or machine-gun bullet aimed at no one in particular that causes most of the casualties.
With love will close from your son
