Dear Mother,

Just a note in a hurry to settle your mind concerning myself. I am A1 at Lloyds, absolutely OK in fact. I have just come in from a 6 hr. wiring fatigue and am a bit tired of course.

We had the usual machine gun nuisance which made us wish we were snakes or rabbits etc. This front is pretty quiet and some of our lads have good sport shooting partridges and wild ducks in No Mans Land in the day time from the front trenches and then crawl out at night to get them.

Can’t beat Australians for sports. A pal of mine in our company shot three the other evening and had them for tea that night. Lucky blighter.

I can’t write very much just now as I am just about tired out.
